Beating Summer Heat In The Pool

We were beating summer heat in the water, until we all got sick. Unusual spring and summer this has been. We seen it all. I remember early spring was strange, one day we get temperature over 25°C and the next day hardly 10°C. Now temperatures have been soaring over 33°C and with humidity we were in the 40s. So I complained about winter being cold and not being able to get out for adventures - well now its summer and I am sheltered inside as well. Going outside its like walking into a furnace.

For a while we have been beating the summer heat with a splash of water and sprinkler on our backyard. Until, Matthew picked up something from someone, and when he played in the water in the next round, in a matter of time he started to loose his voice. Since we are living together, it spreads, next was daddy and then mommy me got sick.

As you can see we got Matthew a small pool for a few bucks to try it out. I couldn't believe what kind of moves he was pulling in it - diving, swimming on the belly, splashing. First time and all that. I guess he must have seen it on TV. This is a best time to take photo of children when they are having lots of fun. They are so natural, and because they want to have fun, they don't care about the camera. I even was able to ask him to smile, and he did it.

When was time to come out the water, and we all know that kids don't know when to stop. 'Matthew time to go' - I said. His reply was, 'Mommy mommy get camera, take pictures Matthew'.

  3. Anna:

Kids are so wonderful when they are as young as Mathew. They are innocent and do everything just for the fun of it. Run, laugh, play, swim, it's a great pleasure to watch them. So much energy. Makes me tired.

Your pictures remind me of my son. He loved to swim. In fact, he used to go into the ocean and always try to swim out too far. It scared me to death and I had to jump in and physically bring him back to the beach. He was so brave and completely unaware of the dangers, riptides, jellyfish, sharks, you name it. Then one day I took him to see Jaws, the movie. After that, we never had anymore problems with him swimming too far out. LOL. He's forty-three now and he is still respectful of the ocean. LOL. Live and learn.

    Happy trails.

Talk about being too hot! You're right about that. I go outside to take pics and come in drenched only 15 mins later. ANd I know it's hotter where you are.

I agree with Swubird. Kids are wonderful when they are Matthew's age. I think it is the fact that they are so innocent...and every experience is something new and exciting. I see he is being trained subliminally to be a model...lol.
Anyways a wonderful light hearted shot and post Anna. I sent you an email n response to your comment on my blog. Hope you got it. I think I will do like you and leave it to just comments with no responses...most of the time. Take care. Enjoy your summer! If you did pick up something hope you guys beat it!

  5. Such a lovely shot of Matthew having a great time. Yes, it is so enjoyable to take pictures of children having fun, they are so uninhibited by the camera. We are having the same type of summer here Anna, very hot and humid. I guess if we lived in Hawaii we would have the perfect climate. However, I do enjoy the 4 seasons with each season you have such a great variety of photo opportunities. Take care and enjoy the summer with Matthew.

  12. That is just an adorable photo Anna! It has been a very odd spring and summer here in Southern Oregon also. First a cool, wet spring, now a blast furnace of a summer. For some reason the gophers are a real menace this summer. I am losing vegetable plants left and right. Very frustrating so I guess I have to get serious about gophercide. Like Swubird said at that age they do it for the fun of it. Why do we change as we grow older?

  13. So far we haven't had any uses for a pool - we get enough water from above. But that is no problem - we have no summer temperatures either. But today we are promised 19 degrees C and sun!!!

  14. We have had the same crazy ranges in temperature here as well Anna, and my comparisson was 'sauna', and not furnace ;) In any case this will be a week of some cooler weather for us, between 20 and 22 C, and hope your weather will be more bearable too. Hugs and hoping all is well with all of you too!

  16. Looks like Matthew is really enjoying himself. Having experienced a Northern hemisphere summer, I now realise what extremes you have up North. We have a very temperate climate generally ran5ing from 5 degrees c if it gets really cold to 23 degrees c.

  17. Hey Anna,

Ohhh, he is so cute!!! So, he already wants you to take pics of him, eh? It's either that or "Mom, do the thing you like [take pics] and let me play in the water some more" lol ;).

It is awfully hot here as well, but I prefer it over Winter any time.

Get better, girl! Drinks lots of fluids...

    Cheers

  19. Hola Anna,
Ser madre y fotógrafa a la vez es muy díficil pues los hijos requieren mucha atención y la fotografía mucho tiempo :)
Fotografiar niños en acción es muy difícil pero tienes razón es muy natural.

  25. A PERFECT AND FANTABULOUS CAPTURE, ANNA!!!

I know what you mean about summer. I think I enjoy winter weather better when the dog days of summer hit, but then in winter, I am wishing for summer. LOL

Hope you are all well now. I had a flu too.

    Wild wave, dear friend.
    Love, Nancy

  29. Matthew had the right idea, Anna, and you got a wonderful action shot of him kicking the water.

I know what you mean about the weather, though. It seems we vacillate between extremes, these past few years.

Matthew has such beautiful eyes! And what a happy child.

Hope you are all better by now. Keep drinking those fluids!
