Another year is over. I think it was a good year after all for us here. I was not very busy on myonlyphoto blog; however, I continue to photograph everything and anything. I am now carrying two cameras on my shoulder, the Canon 7D and Canon 20D, which I fixed not too long ago. I am still hovering around my town, with Matthew on my side, as I cannot go far from home. I think it would be a little too much for a three year old.
My focus this year was where I live. We have very rich history here in town and we are surrounded by beautiful nature trails. It will take ages to explore all so I am going to continue to focus my photographic energy in that area.
The above photo shows our local picnic pavilion in the Sheppard's Bush Conservation Area, which is about 65 acres in size and has over 3 km of hiking trails. Sheppard's Bush also has a maple syrup evaporator hut. As I said our town has so much and I have not seen all yet, one of them never attended the maple syrup making festivities.
The beauty about the winter is that you get this beautiful black and white effect that surrounds warm objects. The first photo is only cropped, no editing was done. The natural wood color makes this photo very magical. However, I discover new editing tool in Google Photos and tried some of the effects. I thought I show off my experiment, the second photo. Whoever comes up with the editing algorithms is doing wonderful job and making my life easier.
Happy New Year 2012!
'A new year is unfolding
- like a blossom with petals curled tightly
concealing the beauty within.'
Happy New Year to you, Matthew, and your family and friends.
ReplyDeleteHi Anna, these are nice shots, the second one makes the scene look warm, though I am sure it is not.
ReplyDeleteIf you would like a copy of the wildebees skies I will be happy to send you a high res pic.
Hope you and your family have a happy New Year and all the best for the new year.
Very nice photo adjustments for the second image. It creates a very magical, wintery-esque feel. The color adjustments really transform the photo from a bleak, abandoned building to a desirable place to visit.
ReplyDeleteJa tęsknię za taką zimą. Pozdrawiam Aniu.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year
Beautiful shots, have a happy new year.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful place.
ReplyDeleteWish you Happy and Prosperous New Year.
Good to hear you are still about Anna, but get busy with those cameras, its a shame to waste 2 good Canons.
ReplyDeleteHi Anna, thanks for stopping by! We are still around, but have not been able to visit blogs as much this year due to mom's work being so hectic and stressful. I try to post still, but at the moment, I am out of new animal pics! Can you imagine? Mom hopes to travel somewhere in 2012. As travel is her passion, but workhas been getting in the way.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a wonderful Christmas and best wishes for a Happy 2012 for you and your family!

Both are nice photographs. I am like you and sometimes manage to take some nice pictures but then I visit Photoshop and discover things that make good look better. Sound impossible but it works.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are still taking your camera with you and getting wonderful pictures like these when you are out with Matthew. I really like the color of the shed in both pictures, but the one straight out of the camera is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI hope you and your family have a Happy and Healthy New Year!
Hi Anna, Thanks for stopping by... Hope you all have a fabulous 2012... We hope to also...
ReplyDeleteLove your photos... That snow looks so inviting. I'm one who loves snow --yet we don't get too much... When we do get some, I'm the happiest gal in the world...
Happy New Year to you and yours.
Hugs,
Betsy
Both very fine images, Anna!
ReplyDeleteAs regards cameras, I find Canon is quite good.
I wish you and Matthew and all your family a Serene and Joyful 2012!
Hola Anna.Te deseo un estupendo y feliz Año 2012.
ReplyDeleteAnna:
ReplyDeleteAs always, your photos are strikingly beautiful. I actually like the first one the best. Winter offers so many wonderful photo opportunities for an artist like yourself. I bet you could take some fantastic pictures on my old neighborhood - Death Valley.
Happy new years to you my good friend, and may all good things come your way.
Happy trails
Thanks you are back and thanks for the great sharing.
ReplyDeleteWish you and your family a happy and prosperous New Year 2012!

Beautiful photos, Anna. The pristine snow makes everything look so wonderful. Love the wood tones of this structure and the country setting. Matthew must be growing so fast by now. Just looked at photos of my granddaughter from 2008 and can't believe how big she is now. Wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year and hope 2012 will be a great year for all of you.
ReplyDeleteI actually like the first one better, but that is probably just me. I think you should do a post on the maple syrup evaporating next spring. I would be very interested in seeing photos of it in use and it would also probably be a great post for your Living in Aurora site. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteG'day Anna. From the heart of summer down under. I haven't seen snow for years, Helsinki in winter. Nice, maybe once more before I go? :)
ReplyDeletegreat!
ReplyDeletehappy new year :)
Happy New Years Anna, that is a neat pavilion and your covering of snow makes it special.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear from you Anna! Your photography is excellent, as it always is. I trust you and yours had a wonderful set of holidays. Here's to a new year filled with love, joy, and peace! God Bless.

These pictures make me miss Newtown and the wonderful snow. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteNice shot! We are still waiting for the winter to arrive, its at least a few weeks late this time.
ReplyDeleteHappy new year to you too, and I'm jealous about the 7D ;-) Looks like at least you have as much snow as we do ;-) Ncie shots...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. I don't know how you found snow (okay, I do, but I'm complaining about the wimpy winter here), but I love the photo. The experiment looks great too. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteDear Anna, both photos are beautiful but I prefer the first one. I like that wooden structure and its color in the middle of fresh white snow.
ReplyDeleteI haven’t been a regular blogger lately for the lack of the time.
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and best wishes for a Happy 2012 for you and your family! I am sorry that I didn’t send my greetings earlier, for which I apologize.
Hug,
Meda
Mmmm, maple syrup!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and nicely composed post, Anna! I will never miss if there is a place like this among wood in my place. Glad to know it was so good for you the latter year and i hope it turn to be more better and best this year too.
ReplyDeleteConvey my regards to Matthew and i wish you all a very Happy New year :)
Happy New Year to all of you! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat place and picture! and Happy New Year :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, I wish we had a little bit of winter too. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, I wish we had a little bit of winter too. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated New Year to you and your family. Thanks for your visit and comment. I just can't seem to get around to all the blogs I would like to, but I am trying to catch ups since the holidays. I find each year I seem to get a little slower. I did get some good news last week, my oncologist said I only have to visit him once a year for the next few years and i can stop the Femera I have been taking for the past five years. Have a great week ahead.

Ah, yes, the second photo with its rich warm amber is especially stunning!
ReplyDeleteI see you have kept your blog going and I have missed you and your posts. I'm thinking of starting up again, as I've neglected it for awhile.
Hope all is well, dear Anna!
